Challenges and Prospects of Local Self-Governance Development

The Civil Forum of Akmola Region was held in Kokshetau under the theme: “Civic Culture of the Population – The Foundation for Improving the Quality of Life in the Region.”

In the first half of the day, five sectional meetings took place. Participants discussed key issues related to the development of civil society, as well as the draft of the new Law on NGOs. Other sessions addressed topics of legal culture among the population, including environmental awareness, violence prevention, and the protection of fundamental rights.

A separate discussion was devoted to inclusivity and the participation of vulnerable groups in public life. The development of local self-government as a tool for citizen engagement was also discussed.

Particular interest was raised by the topic of future professions and preparing NGOs to operate in the context of the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and the creative industry.

The forum concluded with the adoption of a resolution aimed at strengthening civic culture and improving the quality of life in the region.
