Discussing Hot Social Issues: Domestic Violence and Caring for HIV-Infected Children at a Meeting with Civil Organizations in Kazakhstan
In the Civil Resource Center, the Commissioner for Human Rights held a meeting with representatives of public associations, at which important issues related to social problems in the country were discussed.
One of the main topics of discussion was the problem of domestic violence in Kazakhstan. The participants of the meeting expressed concern about the fact that women are subjected to violence on a daily basis, suffer physical and psychological torment from rapists, which leads to serious negative consequences.
The problem of HIV-infected children was also discussed. Regional Children's Ombudsman Zh. Zhazykbaeva noted that upon reaching the age of 18, most of these children are removed from the status of a disabled person. They are forced to take medications daily, as their immune system is unable to cope with the virus on its own. Stopping taking medications can lead to poor health and loss of immunity.
The participants of the meeting also expressed concern about the high level of domestic violence and the low detection of crimes related to the violation of the sexual integrity of minors. All this indicates the need to take effective measures to protect the rights of victims of violence and vulnerable groups of the population.
At the meeting, it was decided to initiate appropriate measures and send a letter with requests to the responsible authorities to solve these problems and ensure the protection of citizens' rights.
