During the interview, the following key issues were discussed:

  • The scale of informal employment of women migrants in the region;

  • The most common violations of labor rights by employers;

  • Mechanisms for monitoring compliance with labor legislation;

  • Existing barriers to the legalization of women migrants’ employment;

  • Possible legislative and procedural changes to strengthen the protection of their rights.

The lawyer emphasized that informal employment remains a serious problem: many women migrants face the absence of employment contracts, unpaid wages, and fear of reporting violations due to dependence on their employers.

The collected data will form part of an analytical report aimed at developing recommendations to improve mechanisms for protecting migrants’ labor rights in Mangystau region.

The project is implemented with the financial support of Eco Mangystau NGO under the European Union-funded “Consolidation for Human Rights in Western Kazakhstan” Small Grants Program.
