The Regional Office for Mangystau of the National Center for Civil Society Development “ADAL AZAMAT – ACTIVE SOCIETY” held a focus group discussion with heads of public organizations and lawyers.

The purpose of the meeting was to identify key issues and barriers in the implementation of state policy regarding NGOs, as well as to collect specific proposals for improving the regulatory framework governing:

• NGO activities;

• The mechanism of the state social order.

Participants discussed issues related to NGO legislation, transparency of state social order competitive procedures, interaction between NGOs and government bodies, and developed general recommendations for the development of the civil sector.

The results obtained will form the basis for consolidated proposals to improve legislation and develop effective NGO support mechanisms.

The focus group was organized with the support of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Such events help strengthen dialogue between the state and civil sector, enhance the capacity of activists, and promote an active society.
