The Role of NGOs in Developing Local Communities Discussed in Aral District
Today, an important meeting was held in Aral District on “Developing Local Community Activities through the Potential of Non-Governmental Organizations,” initiated by the Kyzylorda Regional Civil Alliance and organized by the Regional Public Development Department.
The meeting was moderated by Anar Zharlykasynkyzy, Chair of the Regional Civil Alliance. Participants included Ernur Bauyrzhanuly Bikhozhayev, Head of Department at the Regional Public Development Office, Asylbek Kuanishbayuly Agybaev, Head of State Revenue Department of Aral District, Marat Makhmutuly Marat, Head of Public Development Department of Aral District, Janibek Aliyev, Head of Public Development Department of Kazaly District, as well as representatives of government agencies, NGOs, and local communities from Aral and Kazaly districts.
The discussion focused on the role of civil society in rural development, supporting local initiatives, the effectiveness of social projects, and the potential of fourth-level budgeting. Mechanisms for strengthening partnerships between government agencies and the civil sector, increasing local community engagement, and improving the quality of life in rural areas were identified.
The productive work of rural NGOs was presented by Ainagul Uderbaikyzy Baymakhanova, founder of the “Aral Tenizi” public association. Participants raised issues such as allocating small grants for rural development, reviewing thematic areas of projects under the state social order, and coordinating the work of a resource center for rural NGOs.
Additionally, the importance of active participation by civil society institutions in the upcoming national referendum on March 15, 2026, conducting public awareness campaigns, and promoting legal literacy among citizens was emphasized.
Civil society is a reliable bridge between the state and the people. Developing NGO potential, supporting their initiatives, and implementing effective projects for public benefit is a shared responsibility. Supporting rural NGOs is a key factor in improving living standards and engaging citizens in local development processes.
