We continue to introduce you to the winning projects of the Third-Party Funding competition.

Today we present the project “Independent Public Evaluation of Kazakhstan’s International and National Climate Commitments.” It is implemented by the NGO “Angel” (Akmola Region) and the NGO “ElitAgro” (Aktobe Region).

The project aims to increase the transparency and effectiveness of climate policy implementation at the regional level. Special attention is paid to how Kazakhstan’s international and national climate commitments are realized in practice — in specific regions and communities.

The project will conduct an independent public evaluation, including data analysis, work with local communities, and dialogue with government authorities.

The project includes:
• creation of public evaluation working groups;
• collection of feedback from residents and farmers;
• analysis of regional development programs;
• interregional comparison of climate practices;
• preparation of recommendations for government authorities.

Focus areas — real regional challenges: droughts, floods, land degradation, resilience of rural areas, access to information on climate measures and support for the population.

The results of the public evaluation are expected to strengthen dialogue between the state, the expert community, and citizens, and improve the quality of decisions in climate policy.

The project is implemented with the support of the ZUBR Consulting Center and the NGO “Civil Alliance of Kostanay Region ‘GrIn’” within the framework of European Union funding.
