Public discussion on nuclear power plants

The Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan, together with the Public Council of Astana city, initiated a public discussion on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.
The moderators were Banu Nurgazieva, President of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan and Zulfukhar Gaipov, Chairman of the Public Council of Astana, Doctor of Political Sciences.
During the discussions, issues of ensuring the country's energy security, preparations for the construction of nuclear power plants, as well as training personnel for the nuclear industry were touched upon. The experts presented information about nuclear generation and nuclear technologies, answering citizens' questions about technology safety and socio-economic aspects of NPP construction.
Experts from the nuclear industry, representatives of government agencies, the public and the civil sector took part in the discussions. This public discussion was an important step in shaping public opinion and preparing for possible changes in the country's energy sector.
