Almaty city
Today marks the Day for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments. On this occasion, the Civil Alliance of Almaty region organized a cleanup campaign at the Issyk Museum site and, together with young volunteers, took part in this meaningful initiative.
The preservation of the Saka burial mounds, which date back more than four thousand years, remains an urgent issue. Several monuments in the region require prompt solutions regarding their protection status, inclusion in the state register of protected sites, and clarification of their legal status. These issues were also discussed during today’s event, with the role of civil society considered in a new context.
This initiative is also aligned with the principles of cultural heritage protection enshrined in the new Constitution.
In the future, the Civil Alliance will continue its systematic work on preserving historical and cultural heritage in cooperation with youth, volunteers, and community activists.
