As part of the project “Development of Civil Initiatives in Rural Areas,” we continue to highlight the results of small grants. One such project is “Rural Volunteers: Serving Society,” implemented by the public association “Nurbata-Ardager Birlestigi” in the Bayzak district of the Zhambyl region.

The initiative aimed to develop the volunteer movement and provide social assistance to elderly people and socially vulnerable groups. During the project implementation, a team of volunteers was formed from among high school students, college students, and active rural youth. Informational and educational sessions were held in schools and a college, reaching about 150 participants. As a result of the selection and training process, more than 30 volunteers were prepared, with training programs, schedules, and materials developed for them.

The practical component of the project included targeted assistance to elderly people and vulnerable families. Volunteers helped with house cleaning, grocery delivery, and minor repairs. Improvement works were also carried out at social infrastructure facilities, including kindergartens and a rural library.

Environmental and community initiatives were another important focus. Clean-up and beautification campaigns were conducted in public spaces, including parks and the Talas River area. Additional educational sessions were organized for schoolchildren, followed by feedback collection and preparation of teachers’ reports.

As part of the “Do Good” campaign, outreach events for children with elements of entertainment programs were organized, which helped increase interest in volunteer activities and attract new participants.

The project achieved a significant social impact by promoting civic engagement and fostering a culture of mutual assistance among youth. It improved the living conditions of elderly people and vulnerable families, while also increasing community involvement in the development and improvement of rural areas.
