As part of the project “Organization of the Work of an Information and Awareness-Raising Group to Enhance the Religious Literacy of the Population of Karaganda,” an information and awareness-raising meeting was held with inmates serving sentences at Institution No. 61 of the Committee of the Penal Enforcement System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The speaker was Dmitry Sergeyevich Poltarenko — Chairman of the Mediation Council of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan in the Karaganda Region, Head of the Karaganda Regional Branch of the Republican Public Association “Counter-Terrorism Committee,” Moderator of the Club of Heads of Local Religious Associations of the Karaganda Region, and a member of the Republican Information and Awareness-Raising Group on Religious Issues under the Committee for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting focused on “Preventing Radicalization and the Principles of Secularism in the Republic of Kazakhstan.” Participants were informed about the key principles of state policy in the religious sphere, the significance of the secular nature of the state, and measures aimed at preventing religious radicalism.
