Today, as part of monitoring the implementation of small grants in rural areas, the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan team visited the village of Shalabay in the Abai Region.
In the village, the “Keleshek-Bolashak” Public Association is implementing the “Ұлы дала ізі” (“The Trail of the Great Steppe”) project within the framework of a small grant awarded under the “Development of Civic Initiatives in Rural Areas” priority.
As part of the project, a “History Day” event was held to increase rural young people’s interest in the history and cultural heritage of their native region.
During the event, participants learned about the history of ancient burial mounds and their historical and cultural significance. An educational quiz with prizes was organized for young people, and the most active participants received letters of appreciation.
In addition, information signs had previously been installed as part of the project to indicate the locations of the burial mounds and on the territories of historical sites. At the sites, participants learned about their history, archaeological evidence, significance for studying the past, and the importance of preserving historical and cultural heritage for future generations.
Such initiatives help engage rural youth in studying the history of their native region, foster a culture of respect for cultural heritage, and contribute to the development of civic engagement in rural areas.
